Week 1 – April 2nd, 2024 Theme: Candid: Essential nonprofit data, tools, and resources
Most of us are familiar with Guidestar. We have used it to help decide on wage ranges and view the 990’s of partners. Many of us are also familiar with the Foundations Center. It has a different focus than most grantmaking and grant seeking databases do. Last year, these two organizations merged to form Candid, and they have been scaling up their resources ever since. Here is the new home page to learn more about it: https://candid.org/
Week 2 – April 9th, 2024 Theme: Features of Foundation Directory
Less than 1% of nonprofit funding comes from corporate and foundation grants. Most comes from other methods of working with foundations that care about your cause. Learn more about what those methods are and about the tool that unlocks foundation information, Foundation Center, here: https://fconline.foundationcenter.org/welcome/features?_ga=1.17402425.1669982867.1445279741
Week 3 – April 16th, 2024 Theme: Update your Candid profile in three easy steps
One of the best ways to be noticed by potential partners and funders is by creating a profile on Candid. Profiles are free, and the site offers a Profile Best Practice Guide to help: https://www.guidestar.org/UpdateNonprofitProfile#how-to-update
Week 4 – April 23rd, 2024 Theme: Guidestar data products
Looking for more guidance on database options or wages and compensation in your state or part of the country? Candid has tools to help with that also: https://www.guidestar.org/guidestar-data-products/
Week 5 – April 30th, 2024 Theme: 9 books to read for Women’s History Month
Center Directors are change agents. That requires life-long learning to adapt to our organization’s ever-changing needs. The blog repository on Candid can help you learn and grow. For example, a recent post shared a list of books worth reading for Women’s History Month: https://blog.candid.org/post/9-womens-history-month-books-to-read-in-2024/
